A year ago, I started a gluten and dairy free diet. And recently, I have been really keen on turning paleo.
The things I’ve missed most were chicken strips. Deep fried, covered with breadcrumbs and a honey mustard dip to compliment it.
For Fried Chicken Day (July 6), I decided to turn that day healthy and satisfy my craving.
I followed Generation Y Foodie‘s recipe of Paleo Almond Chicken Fingers, but added a little Turmeric along with the spices.
This was a successful recipe!
As for the honey mustard dip, I couldn’t find any recipe online for a no-mayo recipe, so I just combined raw honey, Dijon mustard, lemon juice and salt and adjusted quantities until the taste was satisfying. You will end up with a runny dip, but the taste was enough for me to satisfy my tastebuds.
I served it with potatoes seasoned with herbs and baked in the oven. Delicious!
Why add Turmeric (aka Curcuma)?
Turmeric is very helpful to ease digestive problems (especially inflammations), including indigestion, bloating, gas, heartburn, Crohn’s disease and irritable bowel syndrome. It is a very important anti-inflammatory and it can also help prevent, control or even kill several types of cancer including breast, colon, and prostate.
Be careful not to consume it in large amounts as it might cause side effects.
